Listening builds effective communication skills, creates empathy, brings openness to new ideas and most importantly, build respect in any relationship. However, though we know how important a skill it is, we usually move to the next in the list when we admit a child to school. While children learn the building blocks of education through speaking, reading and writing, what you have listened too large impacts how you are shaped as a person, how you respond to situations and how well your language communication skills are developed.

The ABC’s Of Listening
Listening begins from birth of a child and is responsible for communication and spoken language. However, it through listening all through life that we enhance our comprehension, concentration and retention power. Observation and listening seem passive but they play an active and important role in critical thinking and problem solving. It teaches children and adults to control impulses, promotes self discipline, follow instructions and be independent. Knowing the power that Listening holds within, The Story Station launched it’s audio stories platform in the heart of the Pandemic.
We announced the Katha Mehfil platform on 20th March 2020 to reach around 1500 children and families worldwide. Being designed to be a weekly format, the announcement of Covid brought us together
to host this portal as a daily channel presenting one story daily at 10am to a subscription based
audience who listened as a family. This is India’s one and only STORYTELLING multilingual platform which has been posting one new story daily for the last 4 years with a repository of over 1500 stories posted to an audience from across the globe which account to about 2500 listeners.
